Research interests: histories and theories of sexual perversion and paraphilia; death-driven sexuality; the ethics of representing sexuality in literature and film; critiques of psychoanalysis; deconstructive gender studies and queer theory.

1) an investigation of the US-based sexologist John Money's contribution to the 'Paraphilia' diagnosis
2) a major collaborative project, co-organised with Dr Robert Gillett (Queen Mary, University of London), on the reception of queer theory in Europe.
3) work on queer theory and psychoanalysis, and their relationship with the concepts of fixity and fluidity.
